Google is investing so much in to the clean technology and efficient alternatives, but its own search engine emits around 7 gm of CO2 on a single hit. This is equal to the same amount of CO2 emitted by a person in 12 breathing. This came into light after the recent study conducted by Alex Wissner-Gross, a Harvard University physicist. The article came into the Sunday Times as well.

Wissner-Gross told the Sunday Times that “Google are very efficient but their primary concern is to make searches fast and that means they have a lot of extra capacity that burns energy,”

7 gm of CO2 is not a big issue when a small vehicle emits around 260gm of CO2 with a load of one person per miles. But here in Google search we hit the search engine so many times in a day. I don’t bookmark anything found on the Google search, and I hope you also do the same. This is not a problem of Google else it is happening because of our lifestyle changes. We are now too much digital and Internet users are rapidly increasing day by day. We all know that Google is the best search engine in this market time, so maximum people uses Google for search operation.

The environmental impact of Google Search came into light and I hope we will start contributing towards the safe and clean environment by bookmarking the search result pages about a key word or will avoid the search operation if not required.
