3 Ways to Increase Feedburner Subscriber Count in a Day

Most of us use Feedburner for subscription and Newsletter management for our blog feeds. Initially you don’t have so many subscribers and if you want show some bigger number in subscription counter then you can do it by following any of the three methods.

Method 1 – Hack Feedburner to Increase the Number

Feedburner is hackable and it can be done in minutes. Sometimes back in 2008, Joop and Patrick of thenextweb figured out a hack for feedburner by doing which you can increase the feedburner count by any number. You need to create an OPML file with the URL of your blog’s feedburner subscription. Then import this file in Netvibes and leave that for a day. Within 24 hrs you will the number of your subscriber increased by that value you provided in the OPML file. In OPML file you will have to repeat the URL for that particular time. Here is the video showing Feedburner hacked.

Method 2 – Ask Unverified Subscribers for Verification

In feedburner many subscribers left the subscription unverified and because of that the subscription number doesn’t include them. You can send them a polite email for verification of their subscription. Believe me, it works most of the time. We had earlier provided a complete analysis guide for your email subscription management. You can use that guide to get the list of unverified subscribers and then send them an email.

Method 3 – Manipulate the Counter Image

Simple but copied. You can show the feedburner counter of other websites on your own blog. Right click on the feedburner counter and save the image. Now use the IMG tag and provide the URL of your blog’s feedburner address to that. By using this technique, you can show ReadWriteWeb or any other popular site feedburner count on your blog.

  • But you can know the exact number of RSS subscribers of a blog using This trick.

  • You can use friendfeed and link to feedburner .. so that your friendfeed count also included on your subscribers number 😉

  • Hi Amit,
Thanks for sharing this link over here. But still this link is not able to overcome the feedburner hack. If someone hacks the feedburner and increases the subscriber count, it will be shown in the link provided by you as well. That is just an up to date link for subscription.

  • Method 2 is a great point. Going after people to commit to that last step to verify should give everyone a small boost in subscribers.

Not sure if 1 or 3 add any real value though.

  • Hi Sanjeev,
I am a bit confused with your tips.
These are is really unethical ways to cheat your readers.I agree only with 2nd tip.

  • Its true that many people subscribe based on the no. of readers already subscribed without checking Like Amit Said using ~fc .

But I think showing Increased feed count hardly helps… In fact it put a question on the credibility of a blogger to his blogroll friends. What do you think….

  • I totally agree with you that Point 2 is the proper way to increase your subscriber counts. But the point which I am trying to make here is that feedburner is hackable and there are people who just boost their numbers by doing point 1 or point 3 process and that’s why feedburner count is not having that much credibility in advertisement market.

  • Hi Surender,
Point 1 is a hack and point 3 is a cheat. I agree with you and the tip is only in Point 2. Hacks and cheats are always unethical and the point which I am trying to make here is that don’t take feedburner count seriously when making any decision because that is hackable. Trust Compete and Sitemeter data. That’s why feedburner count is not having that much credibility in advertisement market.

  • I agree with you Debu, the increased (by hack or cheat) number doesn’t matter a lot as your content is anyways not reaching that much people, and yes it will put a question on credibility. But the point I am trying to make is Feedburner is hackable and readers should go thru the content and see whether these contents are worth subscribing thru email or any other way.

  • Oops.. 😀

To increase the subscriber count.. I wrote a post..! 😀

8 Real Reasons To Subscribe To Our Blog.. 😆

  • Well it is nice way to increase the count (except 3rd step). I have many unverified subscribers. Let me try your method to see whether it works or not.

  • Off late I have noticed that there quite a few bloggers are taking to incorrect means to increase their readership.
My take on this is that, whatever you do or, how so ever you inflate your readership count, people will stick to your blogs, read them and refer them to other readers only if you have excellent quality content in them. What use it the inflated feed readership count.? You might gain a few readers today and then loose them because the blog lacks quality.
Many blogs face the challenge of low feed subscriber count. I do not think that feed subscriber count should be the criteria of your blogs performance. Neither will the readers judge your blog with it nor, should you do it. Go by simple analytics as in Google Analytics and you will know your blog’s real worth.

  • Hi buddy,
I totally agree with you that the content is the king. If a blog (of any niche) is having good content, people will subscribe that blog. Showing wrong/incorrect data is just a publicity gaining propaganda, but not beneficial in long run. Patience is the key in blogging and one should wait for couple of years to get a respectable number of subscribers (specially quality subscribers). I have just shared a trick to manipulate feedburner data so that a reader should not be biased with a site having nice amount of subscribers (that may be fake). Thanks for sharing your inputs as well.

  • Unfortunately Method 1 is fixed now people need to find some alternatives now !!:)

  • Cyanide

Not only is Method 1, not working anymore.
But feedburner itself is broken now. My feed count has been stuck at around 60 (going up and down 1) for months and months, even though I get 2000 unique visitors a day. Makes ZERO sense. My graph of statistics is a straight line for subscribers.

Manipulation of counter image won’t work very well either. Anyone paying attention will notice it doesn’t get the image from official site.

  • Method 1 is fixed now.. it will not work anymore
