Skype is a well known software for VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) i.e. free calling between one computer and another. Now Skype 2.1 Beta version is ready to download for Linux distributions like Ubuntu.

There are newly added features in Skype 2.1 which are as below:

  • Now Send SMS messages from your computer screen
  • Contacts grouping
  • Improved Sound Quality on calls
  • Improvement in Chat (conversations) like new emotions, typing indicator

    Skype definitely is the only known popular software for voice chat over Linux.I have checked the beta version and it works like a charm :)
