Today, WordPress team released a critical upgrade as WordPress 3.0.4 as a security update for XSS vulnerability. There was a bug in WordPress sanitation library called KSES which may cause XSS Vulnerability.
I was trying to upgrade to WordPress 3.0.2 and initially the automatic upgrade failed. Then I upgarded it manually using FTP. It was successful. The dashboard said that ‘You are using WordPress 3.0.2’. But the issue was I was still getting the message on the top of all the admin screens that ‘An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.’
Yesterday, WordPress 3.0.2 was released and according to WordPress guys, it is a mandatory security upgrade. All the WordPress sites should immediately upgrade the previous versions to WordPress 3.0.2.
