Now a days Shopping malls, Cafes, Hotels, Conference halls are having Wi-Fi hotspot where people can bring their wireless devices like smartphone, laptop or tablets and browse the web conveniently. Do you want to have similar Wi-Fi hotspot at your home or personal office? Here is how you can create such zone without investing much.
Windows 7 is having a Wireless Hosted Network (virtual wifi) capability and that feature is still there in the operating system but was not highlighted much. Earlier we shared the tool named “Connectify” to turn Windows 7 notebooks into a virtual wifi hot spot to share Internet connection.
Apple iPad Wi-Fi + 3G is $130 costlier than regular Wi-Fi iPad. But if you are having an iPhone as well with you, then you can save extra $130 and access 3G connection on iPad by turning iPhone into a Wi-Fi hotspot. If iPhone is using 3G connection, then you can turn on “WiFi Tethering” on iPhone and share Internet connection on other mobile devices like laptops, iPad, BlackBerry or any other Wi-Fi enabled devices.
3G or other wireless data cards are easily available for browsing Internet. If you have a laptop with Windows 7 installed on it, you can share the Internet connection of laptop with other mobile devices like iPad, BlackBerry, iPhone using Wi-Fi or with desktops as well. Normally it is not possible to share internet connection of laptop with data card stick. But you can do that with Connectify.
At WWDC 2010, When Steve Jobs was showing some demo of newly launched iPhone 4, some glitches happened because of Wi-Fi as well as AT&T 3G reception. Steve pointed that there are hundreds of Wi-Fi stations operating from the same hall. He requested all the bloggers in that room to turn off their Wi-Fi (called them My-Fi) for proper execution of demo.
