BuddyPress 1.2 Released – Now Install Social Networking Plugin on Standard WordPress Too

BuddyPress 1.2 has been released with some awesome features and options. The most important one is that now you don’t need to have WordPress MU to install BuddyPress. You can install this social networking plugin on standard i.e. normal WordPress setup as well. Buddypress 1.2 is having lot many other features as well.

Buddypress is a social networking plugin which can be easily install on WordPress setup and then your blog can become a social networking platform like Ning. Now Buddypress 1.2 is out and there are lot many features in it. Here is the list of new features included in BuddyPress 1.2.


New Features and Options in Buddypress 1.2

  • Support for standard wordpress setup. Previously buddypress was only for MU owners but now normal wordpress setup owners can also install buddypress
  • Advance Activity Streams – In buddypress, the activities of every member is displayed in organised manner. Now in buddypress 1.2 the activity stream is more advanced.
  • Smooth and Simplified Installation – Previously there were some manual steps which you or your webmaster needed to take but now everything is auto-magically done. Installation process is much improved in Buddypress 1.2
  • Buddypress 1.2 is having a new cool theme which is really looking decent.

  • Thanks for the post. I have installed BuddyPress but when I try and install Kaltura’s media component I get this error Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

    Thanks for the article. I’m trying to find an answer about user integration. I have a bunch of users on my wordpress site, and want to install buddypress. I don’t want the existing users automatically activated. How does this work? Are all user accounts turned on for buddypress when they are installed, or is it an opt-in for users?
