If you are having LG Optimus One P500 Android phone which comes with Android 2.2, get ready to upgrade the OS to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. At the launch of Optimus One, LG officials had promised to provide 2.3 update for the phone as it is ready to handle that. On LG’s official Facebook page, a community member or fan queried about the Gingerbread update and got reply from LG officials that the upgrade is expected by end of May 2011.
LG Optimus One is having vanilla Android 2.2 Froyo on 600 MHz ARM processor, 512 MB RAM, 3.0MP back end camera and much more. Of course 3G and Wi-Fi facility is available in the phone. You can take a look at the unboxing pictures of LG Optimus One which I took after purchasing the same. Now I am also waiting for the Gingerbread upgrade for this simple but responsive phone.

Regarding the Android 2.3 upgrade, here is the screenshot of the Facebook communication between LG officials and a member,
As you can see the reply for the question about Gingerbread update is,
The upgrade of LG Optimus One to android 2.3 is expected by May end & will be available in the Android market
They told that the upgrade will come on Android Market and users will be able to install that from there. But it may come from LG Update Tool as well. Anyway, we will have to wait for couple of few weeks to get more information in this regard.
LG is not as prompt as Samsung and HTC in providing OS update but Optimus One is their one of the popular Android phone in market and cheaper as well. So lot many people are waiting for the upgrade. LG Optimus One P500 is available for around $250 which is really a better deal for Android 2.3 mobile phone.
