It was Tuesday, 27’th July at 4:40 AM, I got an email from Google Adsense team that my account is violating Adsense policy in some way. That was a shocking moment for me as I never ever tried to violate Google Adsense policy in any form. In fact I make my living from Blogging and earn more than $1,000 per month from Adsense only, so it was very difficult situation for me. Anyway, I started reading the mail and found a link sent by them which was not familiar to me as well. They said that the link is an example of page where Adsense Ads are not suppose to run. Actually that page link was from a site having adult contents (pictures and videos). Wooooo… I was shocked that the guy on that particular website was actually running my adsense code on his/her website. I don’t know what benefit he was getting out of that.
Here is an excerpt from email sent by Adsense Team on Tuesday,
While reviewing your account, we noticed that you are currently displaying
Google ads in a manner that is not compliant with our policies. For
instance, we found violations of AdSense policies on pages such as
”http://www.arenascrike.ro/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12016”. Please note
that this URL is an example and that the same violations may exist on
other pages of your website.
As stated in our program policies, AdSense publishers are not permitted to
place Google ads on pages with adult or mature content. This includes any
content that is sexual in intent or may not be considered family-safe.
Please make any necessary changes to your webpages in the next 72 hours.
We also suggest that you take the time to review our program policies
(https://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=48182&stc=aspe-1pp-en)
to ensure that all of your other pages are in compliance.
So Google gave me 3 days to remove those ads from the site which was not even owned by me. I tried to contact the owner of that site but there were no contact forms or email ID available on the site for communication. Then I thought to contact Google and tell them about the issue that the site in question is not even owned by me and some has just copied and pasted the adsense code from my site Internet Techies or any other domain owned by me.
After 3 – 4 hours of getting this email from Google, I used this contact page to send them my reply. Since the email sent by Google was sent from a no-reply notification ID where you can’t reply, so in case of such situation, you need to use the above mentioned contact form to contact them with your answer or reply.
You know, what was the best part that I was doing with my Google Adsense account? I was using “Allowed Sites” options on Adsense to get revenue only from limited sites. Yes, in Adsense you can restrict revenue from limited sites by adding those domains under “Allowed Sites” section under “Adsense Setup” tab. In “Allowed Sites” section, you can see 2 options as follows,
1. Allow any site to show ads for my account
2. Only allow certain sites to show ads for my account
I had chosen 2’nd option and added domains owned by me over there. As I don’t do much guest blogging on revenue sharing sites, so there was no need to add those sites as well. Here is the list of domains owned by me and I had added them only,
- clickonf5.org
- clickonf5.com
- blogern.com
- staenz.com
- staenzwebsolutions.com
Apart from these domains, if anyone paste my ads on their sites, the ad impression will appear but no one will get anything on any clicks on those impressions. Yes, my account will not get any earning because of those impressions.
So I was having a valid point with me that I use “Allowed Sites” section on my Adsense account and I do not own the domain in question. Here is my reply to Adsense team (sent at 7:00 AM, Tuesday) about the issue,
Hi Sir/Madam,
I got notification about program violation because of serving ads on pages like "http://www.arenascrike.ro/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12016".But this domain or page does not belong to me nor related to me in any any way. Owner of that site has just copied and pasted my Adsense ad code and running that over there. I even tried to find out any contact form on that page to contact that site’s owner for removing my ad code but didn’t find any contact form or email ID.I use "Allowed Sites" option available under "Adsense Setup" in Google Adsense and allowed only 5 following domains which I own.
clickonf5.org
staenzwebsolutions.com
blogern.com
staenz.com
clickonf5.comBut still ads from account are running on sites other than above five.
Basically I am related to technology sites and never ever own any adult content site. Someone of that particular domain (read arenascrike.ro) has copied and pasted my Adsense code and running that over there. I am using Adsense since last 2 years and always tried to comply to Adsense policy.
Please let me know how I can stop serving ads on domains other than the
5 listed above and stop violating policies of Adsense. Thanks and regards,
At 11:30 AM, Tuesday, I got a reply from Adsense team saying that
As you are using Allowed Sites section in your Adsense account and the site in question in not owned by you, you are doing all the right things. Please rest assured that your account shall stay in good standing.
That was a relief for me as I make my living thru Blogging on my different sites only. Even I left my full time job back in 2008 to start Internet Techies. Since then, I have started 4 other blogs and is in process to start other initiative in next few days.
Thanks a lot Google Adsense Team for quick reply. I totally understand that Google Adsense Ads are not suppose to run on such sites and one should take care of that. I would suggest my readers who are monetizing thru Adsense that use “Allowed Sites” section of Adsense so that in future if any one on web copies and pastes your code on their site (don’t know what benefit they get), you will no be penalized for that.
