Google Docs helps us in managing online documents, spreadsheets and presentations. You can share your work online with your friends and colleagues or in your network thru email IDs. But if you want your document to be crawled by search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo etc because you feel that your document should be visible on SERP (Search Engine Result Pages) to benefit different people, then you can use the below mentioned option to do the same.
Share option in Google Docs is having lot many sub-options. One of the option in Docs Share button is “Publish as web page” thru which you can create a link for the document and that link will be visible on Google Search result page. But to get your link crawl quickly, you will have to add the link of newly shared document on a public website i.e if you are having a site or blog with google PageRank then link your documents URL over there. The URL used should be the same URL which you will get after publishing the document as web page.

Step 1 – Create and Share Document
Step 2 – Publish Document as Web Page
Step 3 – Get Public URL to Link on Blog or Other Good PR site
For example, I created a new document on Google Docs named “Google Docs Indexed”. I click on “Share” button on top-right corner of the document and selected “Publish as web page” option. You can preview the published document by clicking on “View as Web page (Preview)” option. Then a new window opened where I clicked on “Publish document” button. Now Google Docs provided me a public URL for the shared document. I need to put that URL on a public website or on my blog “Internet Techies” to let Google crawl that link. Once that link will be crawled and indexed,it will start appearing on Google Search or other search engines. You can track the traffic on this URL thru Google Analytics. To do that, click on the “View traffic stats” link on the final screen of public URL.
