Google search results for a particular search operation can be organized by you as you like to see them. Once you login with your Google account, you will see a button at the right hand side of the search results. The alt name of the button is “Promote”. If you want, you can promote i.e. improve rank of particular search result to have that at top of the result. In future, whenever you will search for that keyword, the domain of that result will appear in top section of the SERP.
Google is providing so many customization options on the SERP to provide better search results. One recent example is the feature to add “block” domain from SERP. That means you can also block particular domain (specially spams) to appear in the search results performed for keywords on your PC. There is a Google Chrome extension for this purpose as well.
Anyway, this kind of promoting particular search result on SERP will help you getting the same domain in SERP even if the domain ranking decreases in future. That means, the original ranking of the search result domain will not matter once you will promote that on your SERP. But of course, once you will sign out from your Google account, you will see the original (non promoted) results.
Did you find this customization helpful? Do you think Google is moving in right direction in providing better search results?
