Google App Search Team has released a new Gmail Lab named “Apps Search” which enables you to search emails, Google docs and sites within Gmail. So once you will enable this lab, you can start finding your docs from the Gmail dashboard as well. This new search option will help you find stored documents, attachments etc. from single query search. So now onwards, you don’t need to search same query in docs and then Gmail to find a particular document. Here is how you can enable “Apps Search” lab and use new search box.
What is “Apps Search” lab? How to use that?
Go to Settings ==> Labs options in Gmail and enable “Apps Search” lab from there. Now you can see the Gmail Search changed to “Search Mail and Docs” from “Search Mail”. That means, you can search document stored on docs as well as you can search emails on Gmail. Here are some screenshots showing Aps Search lab and search box (default one and after enabling the lab).
