Internet blackout is going on in Egypt as there is no Google, Facebook, Twitter, BlackBerry Services, SMS over there right now. Most of the areas are having no Internet connection or very slow connection to browse very limited part of web. Earlier we reported that if these social networking or important sites are banned, people in Egypt may use free proxies and VPN services to open blocked sites and enjoy their day by updating their status.
As on Tuesday, Egyptian government blocked Twitter and then on Wednesday, they blocked Google as well. Now Facebook is reporting drop in traffic that means now they have already blocked Facebook in Egypt as well. BlackBerry Services like BB Chat and SMS is also blocked. There is a serious violent protest going on in that country and there are some report for killing of protesters by security personals as well.
Some recent reports are also suggesting that, Vodafone and other mobile carriers are getting instructions to block mobile services as well. Some twitter updates are saying that Landlines are also disconnected right now. As now a days people are more dependent on Twitter and Facebook for spreading news and updates, that’s why government is blocking these sites to disconnect Egypt with outside world. But if you are having active Internet connection, you may try free proxies and VPN services to open the blocked sites and access them.
